HOW TO Block or Un-Block a sender in Outlook Express (Filters)

            To BLOCK:

Highlight e-mail message of person you want to block

Go to MESSAGE and “Block Sender”

You will receive a Message that the sender has been blocked, and Outlook will ask you if you want all this senders messages removed from your folders, simply click on yes or no.

            To UN-BLOCK:

                        Go to your TOOLS Menu

Go to MESSAGE RULES and “BLOCKED SENDERS LIST”

A box will be brought up with a list of current block senders

On the Blocked Sender tab, check the box next to the address(es) you want to unblock, click “remove” to remove them from the blocked senders list.

You can also block senders from this point, by clicking on ADD and typing in a person’s e-mail address.  But this requires typing, whereas if you already have a message from the offensive sender, you can use the simple steps (under BLOCK sender) above to eliminate typing the address in.

How to IMPORT or EXPORT an address book in Outlook Express

            IMPORT

                        Click On FILE, then IMPORT

If the file is an Outlook Express Address Book, click on ADDRESS BOOK.  You can then select the address book from your computer, and import it to Outlook Express.

If it is from another program, click on OTHER ADDRESS BOOK.  Then you will be asked to select which program the address book comes from, or what type of file it is saved as.  Select   the program (Netscape, Eudora, etc.) and it will SEARCH YOUR HARD DRIVE FOR YOU- to find the address book.  Then you can import that address book into Outlook Express.

            EXPORT

                        Click on FILE then EXPORT

Select the PROGRAM you wish to export your address book to… (Eudora, Netscape, etc.) and click Okay.  If there are no other e-mail programs on your computer, you will be allowed to save your address book as a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file.  This is a universal file that can be uploaded to most address books, including your hotmail and yahoo mail accounts.  Save the file somewhere that you will be able to find it later (desktop, My Documents), and be sure to name it something like “Outlook Express address book” for future reference.

NOTE:  You can also move address books from your Yahoo or Hotmail Account TO OUTLOOK EXPRESS, and you can teach your Outlook Express to receive your hotmail and your Yahoo mail in your Outlook Express in a separate Inbox.  It really isn’t as hard as it seems!  To Configure (teach) your Outlook Express account to send and receive Hotmail, follow the directions below, direct from Microsoft….
